Why We Told a Potential Client Not to Invest in SEO

Today, Bennett Capozzi and I told a potential client not to invest in SEO.

As web consultants, it's easy to sell people services and features they don't need. Honestly, running a web dev studio is kind of like being a mechanic.

When people drop their car off at the shop they know they need the car fixed, but they often don't know what's broken, or how much it'd cost to fix it.

Websites are similar. People know they need one, but they don't know how much it costs or what it looks like under the hood.

We started Dedicated Co. because we want to be like the mechanic you keep coming back to.

That's why when a potential client came to us with something they didn't need, we didn't upsell them. Instead, we told them that they didn't need our services. We knew it'd be more valuable for them to spend their time and money elsewhere based on their goals for their business.
